How many different reasons do you need to come along to our multi-function anniversary function in Melbourne on February 14.
Just like the multi-function Vodafone Arena, this will be a multi-function function. You see it is also be the anniversary since Crikey’s launch on Valentine’s Day last year. And given that Crikey will be in the Victorian Supreme court on February 18 for the first mention in the Steve Price defamation matter, we’re also having it as a fundraiser for our defence. This segment of the night will be called “Stick it to Steve”.
Finally, we’re also going to be having some awards to dish out reflecting our travels over the past 12 months. We already had the inaugural Crikey Awards for media poor performance last May, so these awards will cover business and politics. Let us know if you have any suggested categories:
Here are a few to start with:
Destruction of shareholder value award.
Worst CEO of the year.
Politician most deserving of being dumped from the Ministry
The conflict of interest awards
Most overpaid CEO.
The unfulfilled promise prize.
Etc etc. You get the drift so send in some suggested categories and winners.
The function will be free for Crikey subscribers and will also mark the last time that subscriptions will be sold at the knockdown price of $30 a year.
Only subscribers will be allowed into the function but for $30 at the door you’ll get:
– One annual subscription to a site with a working and growing archive. – A crikey tee-shirt of your chosen size along with a Crikey pin. – Plus a choice of four books that we have read and strongly recommend. – Food and drink for the night. – A momento in recognition of your contribution to the Stick it to Steve campaign.
The easiest thing to do is subscribe now before the price rise from $30 to $55 on February 15. And this time we really mean it because our gadget man Con has promised the archive will be up and working by then.
Crikey is committed to hosting lively discussions. Help us keep the conversation useful, interesting and welcoming. We aim to publish comments quickly in the interest of promoting robust conversation, but we’re a small team and we deploy filters to protect against legal risk. Occasionally your comment may be held up while we review, but we’re working as fast as we can to keep the conversation rolling.
