Shane Warne, a great legspinner and a person who obviously didn’t care much about his team mates on Sunday in Christchurch. Just when we were thinking there was a more kinder and gentler Shane, helping tsunami victims in Sri Lanka and playing and winning half a million bucks for his charity, out comes the old, “Look at Mi” Shane. How else do you explain why he chose the end of the fourth day to announce his relocation to Britain plans, immediately after a very dramatic win by the team(and helped by him in the second innings)?
Look at Mi took the focus away from a very good team effort… and the efforts in particular of Katich and Gilchrist who put Australia in the position where it regained its poise. But no, our Shane had to blab about his plans, and the focus and front page stories and pix were of him, not the Australian cricket team after quite an amazing win. Will those defenders of our Shane among the cricket writers and commentators(Ian Chappell?) have anything to say about the way Warne shameless grabbed the limelight from his team members?
Don’t bet on it. Good on ya Shane, but not ‘bowled Warnie”!.
Dyer Warne Rant (not sure if we’ll use yet)
