In an interesting postscript to Monday night’s Media Watch, The West Australian
reports today that a man has pleaded guilty to sexually molesting four
seriously ill boys while supervising them on trips to the NSW
snowfields as a break from treatment at Princess Margaret Hospital.

The story, written by Dawn Gibson, rather than the woman who first broke the story Natalie O’Brien, says:

Bernard Anthony Stuart Tynas, 40, pleaded guilty
through his lawyer to four counts of aggravated indecent assault in
Sydney yesterday. The former shopping centre marketing manager faces a
maximum five years in jail.

Tynas, of Dianella, assaulted
the boys at camps in 2002 and 2003 run under the Apex program Operation
Snowman, conducted in consultation with PMH for the past 19 years.

The guilty plea goes some way toward vindicating O’Brien’s
original story, but her suggestion that there was a “group of
paedophiles who infiltrated the Subiaco medical centre” still seems a
bit overblown.

And never one to miss an opportunity to have a go at the Gallop government, the The West Australian also notes that, “WA is at odds with other States in its refusal to adopt mandatory child abuse reporting”.
