Seven News’s
Mark Riley dropped the Abbott adoption bombshell
during
Seven’s
6pm
news
bulletin last night, leaving plenty of time for the
papers
to
incorporate
the
story into their Tuesday papers and plenty of time
for the
subs
to have a
bit
of fun with their headlines.
However not all the papers were felxible
enough
to
incorporate
addittional
commentry into their coverage. The Daily Tele was also one of the few papers to have a comment on Abbott’s
news
in
the
form
of Malcolm Farr who is very generous in his assessment of the situation
observing
that
it
is
“a measure of his honesty and earnestness that Abbott
accepted,
in
public,
what
he had done”.
The Age’sMichelle Grattan also managed to put together a shot (250 word)
piece
on
Abbott,
who
articulates the enormity of the situation “it’s not
just
been
a
roller-coaster
ride of months but a 27-year delusion”.
Meanwhile, see how the papers splashed with the story below:
The Australian
The Sydney Morning Herald
The Daily Telegraph
Herald Sun
Other papers to splash with the news were, The Age – Paternity shock for Abbott, The Courier-Mail – DNA tests how love child was not Abbott’s, The Mercury – Abbott’s torment and The West Australian – He’s not my boy. However, The Advertiser and NT News both passed over the Mad Monk for the front page in favour of local stories.
