Is SBS getting into the business of asking inflammatory hypothetical
questions? Once these were largely the preserve of tabloid newspaper
editors, who would whip-up readers by getting them to phone responses
to leading questions like this from the Herald Sun in
Melbourne: Should images of young children with drugs be used to
promote an arts festival? (Poor old Peter Blunden must have been
scratching his head when the results came in and 202 people, a whopping
43% of responses, voted yes.)

But could SBS World News Online
now be getting into this dubious game? What are we to make of this
question in today’s world headlines: “How should Australia become
involved if there is a US-China conflict over Taiwan? Click here.”
Should we be hoping for a war? Or is SBS just looking to stir up some
good old-fashioned anti-Americanism from intellectual lefties?
