The Sydney Confidential pages in the Sydney Daily Telegraph have once again found it impossible to get the right ABC stations in the right positions in its graphic of the result of the second radio ratings period in Sydney. After the first survey, The Tele confused ABC Classic FM and the ABC local AM radio station, 702. ABC Classic FM was given the high rating 702’s share of 9.5% and 702 was given the Classic FM share of 1.9%, which would have been a disaster. The paper later corrected itself.

In today’s Tele there’s more confusion about ABC’s ratings. ABC Classic FM was correct, its market share dropping sharply from 1.9% to 1.5%. But the poor old Tele confused the two AM stations, yep, 702 again, and this time the serious thinking person’s station, Radio National, 576. Radio National was given 702’s share of 8.7% and 702 was given Radio National’s share of 2.6%. If 702 really did achieve the figure of 2.6%, the collapse in its ratings would have been the biggest story in Sydney radio this year.

We’ll be waiting for yet another correction from Campbell Reid’s paper of record.
