The Nine Network’s woes in the 6pm to 7pm news and current affairs hour continued last night, thanks to another good effort from Seven’s 5.30pm lead-in program Deal or No Deal, which has more than doubled its lead over the Nine’s dying The Price is Right.

Deal or No Deal again averaged well over 800,000 viewers last night, compared with the 403,000 watching ThePrice is Right. As a result, Seven News beat Nine by 22,000 people nationally – 1.383 million to 1.361 million. Seven News also won again in Sydney beating Nine by 52,000 people.

The trend continued at 6:30pm when Nine’s A Current Affair was easily beaten by Seven’s Today Tonight. TT won nationally and in Sydney (ACA won Melbourne). The margin nationally was around 160,000 – 1.42 million people to 1.259 million. Around 140,000 viewers fled Nine instead of staying tuned for ACA.

Seven’s solid effort between 6pm and 7pm continued for most of the night. Home and Away was the second most popular program with 1.567 million people (having a bomb obviously helps!).

The most watched show was Dancing with the Stars, which averaged a massive 1.903 million people for 90 minutes until 9pm, when All Saints saw a good audience of 1.281 million. That blunted Nine’s best performing shows, CSI, with 1.422 million people from 8:30pm and CSI: New York (9:30pm) with 1.285 million people.

Ten didn’t get a look it until number ten on the most watched list, with a new episode of The Simpsons, which drew an audience of 1.195 million people.

Seven won the night with a share of 32.9% to Nine’s 27.2%, Ten 20.9%, ABC 15.0% and SBS 4.0%. Seven won every market, even Brisbane where they love their CSI programs.
