While it was a clear win for the Nine Network last night thanks to McLeod’s Daughters, CSI Miami and Without a Trace,
Nine’s problems with the news and current affairs hour continue with
Seven winning the 6pm to 7pm slot nationally. Nine had a national
audience share of 32.3% to Seven on 24.9%, Ten with 22.6%, the ABC with
15.4% and SBS on 4.8%.

Despite a drop in the audience for Seven’s 5:30pm lead-in Deal or No Deal (782,000, down 10%) and an increase in the number of viewers watching Nine’s The Price is Right (427,000 up 5% on Tuesday) Seven News still won easily from Nine across the five major capital city markets.

Seven News
had a 50,000-plus margin, 1.336 million to 1.282 million. In Sydney, Nine News slipped below the 300,000 mark to 293,000 compared with Seven’s 380,000. Today Tonight beat ACA by a bigger margin, 184,000 viewers: 1.369 million to 1.188 million.

Tonight is also the night of the NRL and AFL Footy Shows. Will Fatty and the lads on the NRL show find any more viewers? And who will Eddie McGuire spray tonight on the AFL show?
