It was another weak night for the Seven Network. Boston Legal (a spin-off from The Practice) stumbled on its first outing, pulling in only 722,000 viewers, but it was offset by the successful return of Border Security at 7:30pm, which came close to being the top program of the night.
Seven finally issued the last rites to the Let Loose Live comedy experiment on Sunday night, the series chopped after two programs – not the record for shortest series, I believe, as the four-part Ten series The Cooks was axed after one show late last year.
Rove Live on Ten and CSI New York on Nine both beat Boston Legal in the 9:30pm time slot and, at 26, it finished one place in front of the ABC’s Foreign Correspondent. A repeat of CSI was the most watched program with 1.598 million people. Temptation picked up for Nine and beat Home and Away.
Nine News beat Seven News by 45,000 nationally, thanks to a 200,000 margin win in Melbourne. In Sydney, where the blood was split yesterday, Seven won by 91,000 viewers in an emphatic win in the most important market. Today Tonight thumped A Current Affair by more than 130,000 viewers at 6:30pm, including a big win in Sydney and a big loss in Melbourne.
Nine won with 31.9% to Seven on 26.2%, Ten back on 21.3%, The ABC with 15.4% and SBC with 5.2%.
