“Who are our 50 most powerful media figures?” we asked on Wednesday. We
gave you a head start with 25, and your nominations are flowing in –
some more left field than others:
Vince ventures: “One clear omission that needs to be added to your list: Kim Williams, CEO of Foxtel.”
A federal Liberal staffer writes: “Laura Tingle (AFR) and Steve
Lewis (The Australian) wrote some VERY influential stuff during the ’04
federal election campaign.”
Lydia asks: “Why Tony Jones and no Sandra Levy?”
Rick writes: “Have you considered Paul Anstee, Director of
Anstee Executive Search? He has a boutique search practice and has
specialised in media appointments for almost 20 years, and is
responsible for a significant number of senior media placements in this
country. He is Sydney based, but works nationally and internationally.”
And Roger reckons: “Ah, go on! Reserve #50 for Phillip Adams – back of the bus sort of thing.”
All will go into the mix, although we suspect Adams might just miss the
cut; unless his great mate Paul Keating makes a comeback to the
Lodge. ABC management types like Sandra Levy and MD Russell
Balding will probably get a gig in the Top 50 – along with Kim
Williams. Check out the list so far on the site here.
