We erred yesterday when we wrote that
membership of the AMA is compulsory – and thanks to the 147-or-so
doctors who picked us up on it.
In the words of Simon Chapman, professor of Public Health Policy at
Sydney University: “You are wildly incorrect. Medical registration is
compulsory if you wish to practise as a doctor, as is medical
indemnity. The AMA has nothing to do with either.”
