It’s just another normal day in NSW politics. So that means:

The SMH catches and scathingly criticises the Dilemma spin machine for recycling three-year-old CSIRO climate change data and nothing else.

In the Oz, Mike Steketee rips into Iemma’s banana republic:

If you were writing a script for how to get in trouble in the run-up to an election, you simply could not go past NSW. It has the lot, including a child s-x scandal, a flagging economy and the fallout from the Government’s long neglect of capital spending in areas such as water and public transport.

And he was just getting started. Next door in the Terror, Piers Akerman starts with:

The Carr-Iemma Government can claim one achievement – it has managed to turn NSW into the punchline for jokes about the Australian states. Given the competition offered by Tasmania and Queensland and the territories – particularly John Stanhopeless’s People’s Republic of Canberra – that is some feat.

The Terror also rips into the government over the Cross City Tunnel costing the government-guaranteed State superannuation funds $60 million.

Steve Burrell in the SMH has both Iemma and Howard praying to the economic gods. Iemma might be praying hardest as the fear is that the December quarter national accounts to be released on 7 March might show NSW is in recession.

And there’s more, but you get the picture. And that’s all without the official opposition.

No wonder Mrs Iemma doesn’t read the fishwrappers any more.
