One of the more attractive features of living in a friendly country with a small population is its cosiness. Got a good idea for a business venture? Just pick up the phone and ring the Prime Minister and he’ll listen to your idea, comment on it and tell you how it sits with future government policy.
That’s what a bloke called Ron did one Saturday morning last year when he and a couple of mates were thinking about registering a company to explore opportunities in the nuclear industry. After listening to Ron’s idea, the PM gave it a tick. “That’s a great idea, Ron,” the PM told him approvingly.
So if you’re an entrepreneur with an idea that could be assisted by a bit of prime ministerial mentoring — perhaps even inside information — just call John on 02 6273 2999 (Canberra Lodge helpline) or 02 9816 1300 (Bennelong Electorate Hotline).
It would probably help if you were called Ron, Robert or Hugh and you were a fulsome contributor to a certain political party.
