Pauline pantsdown. The Canberra Times reports  the motel at the centre of the alleged liaison between Pauline Hanson and David Oldfield has been inundated by travel agents wanting to promote “Pauline Packages” to travellers who might like the chance to follow in their, er, footsteps. “The only problem is the current managers of the Sundown Village Motel arrived two years after the now-disputed liaison and do not know which of the 100 rooms is The One,” says the Times .

Off the rails. Sydney’s squalid rail network is dominating the headlines  and internal Labor Party polling supposedly shows the opposition creeping up  as election day looms. Now it the time to remember a precedent, the 1979 South Australian state election, unexpectedly lost by Labor thanks to a dunderheaded strike in its closing days by public transport workers.

Bounced out. The NSW Liberals have finally realised that the seat of Lane Cove, held by young right-winger Anthony Roberts, previously the PM’s personal parrot wrangler, is a marginal. And Roberts is bewailing the SMH ’s claim  “he was asked to leave the Longueville Hotel following an incident”. Didn’t he lead the push protesting against John Brogden’s simply dreadful behaviour?

Two wheels good. NSW motorcyclists are as mad as hell and aren’t going to take it any more. Or something like that, anyway. The Motorcycle Council has put out its wish list for Saturday’s state election and named a truly remarkable rainbow coalition of motorcycle minded MPs: Democrat Arthur Chesterfield-Evans, Labor hard man John Della Bosca, idiosyncratic Liberal right-winger Charlie Lynn, Ian Cohen and Lee Rhiannon of the Greens and the independent and moonlighting Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore. They even have God on their side, it seems. The Reverend Fred Nile of the Christian Democrats gets their approval too.

Entree nous, look at Entree Vous. Way back in February Crikey drew readers’ attentions to Entree Vous, the Patsy and Edina of Queensland lobbying that also appears to be a subsidiary of the Santo Santoro faction of the local Liberal Party. Its website  seems to be a regular rogues’ gallery, and yet despite having his name up there, young Senate hopeful Mark Powell is supposedly saying he does not work there. Connections between the firm and the newly sensitive aged care/health sector and sensitivities over the resourcing of state candidates are giving the firm more profile than it may like.

33 years is a long time in politics. The pressure is on for the Queensland Libs to find a woman to fill the casual vacancy created by Santo’s sad demise. After all, the last time they put a woman in a winnable spot was with the then Kathy Martin in 1974.

Marrickville mauling. In politics it pays to be careful where you put your billboards. Not inner urban Marrickville next time, Fred…

And, finally… Since when did the Prime Minister carry a handbag?
