The pulp mill and pre-packaged protest. Federal Environment Minister Malcolm Turnbull has announced that he has received “over 30,000 submissions” on the pulp mill. It appears that the vast majority were form emails from activist websites, not comments from the Tamar Valley. A total of 31,323 submissions came from just two web sites; 25,773 form emails from GetUp and 5,550 from the Wilderness Society.

They mightn’t know who she is, but she knows who they are. The PM was embarrassed back in July when he couldn’t remember the name of his hopeful candidate in Tasmania, Vanessa Goodwin. Unlike some senior members of his government, though, Goodwin knows the name of the party she’s running for – and is happy to have it on her billboards.
