The election campaign was called on Sunday 14 October, on the day both Newspoll and Morgan were wrapping up a weekend of interviewing. These two surveys account for the first set of points on the graph.
The first week of the campaign – ending on the Sunday 21 October – saw a bumper five polls taken. And so on – with three polls taken in the week to yesterday.
Note: these two party preferred numbers are estimated from the pollsters’ primary vote data. In general, poll-mix puts the contest a point or two closer than the pollsters’ two party preferred numbers do.
