Green voters are most concerned about … No, not the environment. Nor water. But health. As are Coalition, Labor and supporters of independents and the minor parties, or so Roy Morgan Research polling shows.

The PM didn’t mention it on Monday, but Kevin Rudd is tipped to at least have some hospital announcements today. Good timing. The Morgan research shows 27% of voters say that health comes in as the top issue when they are asked what the federal government could do to most benefit them and their families.

Health was the top issue for 21% of Coalition supporters, 30% of Labor supporters, 32% of Green voters and 27% of people intending to vote for independents and the minor parties.

Health tied with taxation as the top issue for Coalition voters on 21%, with and social welfare and the aged (11%) as their next priority, followed by housing affordability (7%) and keeping interest rates low (just 6%).

Labor supporters put education number two (19%), followed by social welfare and the aged (12%), taxation (11%) and keeping interest rates low (8%).

Green voters put education second (31%), with the environment coming in as their third concern (23%).

Supporters of independents and other parties ranked education first on (35%), health second (27%), then taxation and support for social welfare and the aged (tied on 13%) and transport and roads (12%).

These are the main findings of a Morgan Poll of 820 electros conducted face to face throughout Australia on October 27-28 200.
