Some ABC Learning staff have had their pay delayed as the company struggles to make ends meet.

AirServices Australia has agreed to a confidential but very expensive settlement of claims for damages by the victims of an air crash south of Wangaratta 28 July 2004. A light aircraft owned by the D&R Henderson timber firm drifted off course on a flight from Sydney to Benalla and crashed into hills killing the co-founder of the company Robert Henderson and the five others on board. Air traffic controllers received automated warnings that the flight was off course but didn’t inform the pilot. AirServices then said sorry to the victims’ families and friends. Which it is now following up with lots of money. Later this year it will also have to explain to the Victorian Coroner how the world’s most modern air traffic control system watched as it let the six people on board fly to their deaths.
