Is political reality finally setting in?
The latest Morgan poll shows a significant fall in support for the Rudd Government the weekend before last. Labor support fell 5.5% on a 2PP preferred basis, with the Coalition picking up 4.5%.
Qualitative polling by Morgan suggests plenty of concerns about Labor’s economic management skills ahead of its biggest economic test yet — although prior to the Government’s weekend torrent of leaks about what will be on offer — and taken away … tonight.
However, there is just as much concern about the Coalition’s disarray and its incapacity to present as a viable Opposition, which explains why the 2PP split remains a dismaying 58-42 against the Coalition. At this stage, the Government has a lot more capacity to address people’s concerns than the Opposition.
