While the Prime Minister saved the world from nuclear attack, climate change and a future without an Australian automotive industry all in one week (how the rest of the world must wish they were Australian, so they could vote for him too) — the Australian media seemed to be at least as interested in more earthy local matters, such as allegations of State and Federal representatives doing long hours checking local standards of RSA (once again no doubt leading the world to wish they too could vote for such hard-working folk).
World Environment Day and only one-week late comment on the Henson issue saw the Minister for Placky Bags leap up the list as did the Minister for The Important Environmental Stuff That Can’t Be Left To The Rock Star (try getting that on a business card), who softly got tough on carbon trading and defended the water buyback scheme.

Della joins the big two this week, as talkback callers seem to show more interest in local argy bargy than global peace and carbon-free Camrys, while name calling between farmers and the Victorian Premier continues.
