New York Times magazine journalist Matt Bai was the keynote speaker at yesterday’s Microsoft-sponsored conference on politics, technology and new media. The video of Bai’s talk on how the internet is shaping the presidential campaign in the US is available here.

Bai spoke largely about the US experience, but panellists including Senators Joe Hockey, Kate Lundy and Andrew Bartlett gave some interesting insights into where they see blogs and political websites fitting into the Australian landscape.

The most comprehensive coverage of the event was compiled by Crikey correpondent Stillgherrian, who reported via microblogging site, Twitter. Twitter comments on the event (tagged #poltech) by different attendees and commenters are available at the Summize website.

Attendee Priscilla Brice-Weller described the event as ” the most inspiring event I have been to this year on the topic of politics and online engagement because we were able to hear so many different points of view in one morning on this important topic.” — Solidariti
