The link between human activity and global warming… became settled before March 2007″, say the regulators – and that’s why they don’t fault Channel 4 for not providing an impartial viewpoint. The launch of the world’s cheapest car, the $2500 Tato Nano, into the Indian market will make car ownership possible for an estimated extra 22 million people. The prospect of a flood of additional cars terrifies city planners and environmentalists. — Wired
Beijing acts to clean up Olympic air. The big games are less than three weeks away, and the Los Angeles Times reports that Beijing is further cracking down on pollution by yanking cars off the roads, expanding mass transit and staggering work hours. Some greens are calling the changes too little too late, although it could be said that the city is acting swifter than many American cities with polluted air. — The Daily Green

Lonesome George, the last remaining giant Galapagos tortoise of his species and an international conservation icon, may have finally mated, after years of coaxing by scientists.
