The Winners: Nine News was the top program with 1.575 million people, with Find My Family second for Seven at 8pm with 1.488 million. Today Tonight was third with 1.380 million and Ten’s NCIS repeat at 8.30pm was 4th. Next was Seven’s new program, 10 Years Younger in 10 Days, it started with a very solid 1.348 million at 9.30pm. RSPCA Animal Rescue averaged 1.328 million at 7.30pm for Seven and Bondi Rescue averaged 1.314 million at 8pm for Ten. The Biggest Loser won 7pm for Ten with 1.264 million and 8th nationally. Nine News was 9th with 1.182 million and A Current Affair was 10th with 1.176 million. Seven’s Home and Away averaged 1.161 million at 7pm and Nine’s repeat of Two And A Half Men averaged 1.103 million. The 7pm ABC News was next with 1.052 million and the 9pm episode of Two and a Half Men averaged 1.033 million for 15th. 16th was the 8.30pm episode of Two and a Half Men with 1.032 million. Ten’s 9.30pm program Lie To Me averaged 940,000. Nine’s World’s Funniest Videos at 7.30pm averaged 899,000 and Commercial Breakdown at 8pm averaged 847,000 — both all but failures. Foreign Correspondent on the ABC at 8pm, 637,000.

The Losers: Nine viewers from 7pm onwards. Just nothing original to watch and they showed their displeasure. 20 to 1 at 9.30pm on Nine, 780,000. That was a last minute change, it didn’t work. Hell’s Kitchen on Nine at 10.30pm, 393,000. Another flop.

News & CA: Seven News again won nationally and in every market. Today Tonight won everywhere but Melbourne where ACA got home. Ten News averaged 939,000, The late News/Sports Tonight averaged 427,000. The 7.30 Report averaged 832,000, Lateline, 225,000, Lateline Business, 142,000. SBS News at 6.30pm, 191,000, Insight at 7.30pm, 280,000; the late News at 9.30pm, 174,000. 7am Sunrise, 360,000, 7am Today, 319,000.

The Stats: Seven won 6pm to midnight All People with 31.3% (26.1%). Ten was second with 27.2% (30.1%), next was Nine with 22.5% (22.4%), the ABC with 14.3% (16.1%) and SBS with 4.6% (5.4%). Seven won all five metro markets. Nine leads the week 28.3% to Seven with 27.9%. In regional areas, Prime/7Qld won with 32.2%, from Southern Cross (ten) with 24.2%, WIN/NBN with 23.7%, the ABC with 14.8% and SBS with 5.1%.

Glenn Dyer’s comments: Hot Seat, Eddie McGuire’s new program for Nine at 5.30pm averaged 612,000 on Monday night and 587,000 last night. That’s not good news. It means having sampled it on Monday night, 25,000 people didn’t return. Seven’s Deal or No Deal saw its audience rise from 776,000 to 792,000. That meant the gap widened between the two. Nine News and ACA‘s audiences fell. All audiences are lower on Tuesdays for News and Current Affairs than on Monday night which is usually the week’s peak. ACA won in Melbourne, but that can’t be laid at the feet of Hot Seat because the news was beaten by Seven. Hot Seat dropped 17,000 viewers in Melbourne, the strongest market.

The 7.30 Report last night used Steve Keen, the gloom mongering economist from the University of Western Sydney, again. There are plenty of other good economists out there who can walk and talk, and who haven’t forecast the end of the Australian economy/housing/a huge debt problem like Mr Keen has, time and time again.

Seven’s Find My Family averaged 1.488 million at 8pm and was clearly better than Nine’s debut on Monday at 8pm, Picking Up The Pieces, which averaged 1.271 million. Nine might have been better to have run it directly against the Seven program last night as a spoiler. And Seven is resting Packed To The Rafters. Ten ran a repeat of NCIS at 8.30pm: a fresh episode would have done much better. Nine just wasn’t in the race. Ten won all the major demos 6pm to 10.30pm in 16 to 39, 18-49 and 25 to 54.

TONIGHT: The Cook and The Chef at 6.30pm, Spicks and Specks and The Gruen Transfer on the ABC from 8.30pm to 9.30pm on the ABC. Seven returns My Name Is Earl to 9.30pm tonight, coupled with the cartoon Family Guy at 10pm. That’s after the second Grand Final of Australia’s Got Talent and then Criminal Minds at 8.30pm. Nine has Two and a Half Men, What’s Good For You and RPA, The Mentalist and then Cold Case. Ten has The Biggest Loser, The Simpsons, House and Life: all fresh. SBS a repeat of Food Safari at 7.30pm.
