Two Tonys in the Top 20

As Abbott and Smith doesn’t have quite the same ring to it as Abbott and Costello, the sub-editing savants came up with “the two Tonys” for the latest immediately discounted Liberal leadership speculation, while the other Liberal leader from NSW copped plenty of stick in the media for again going to the left of Labor on school ranking, but nobody’s calling him David Cameron. Possibly NSW voters are sick of the politics of tactics rather than competence? Just a guess.

Meanwhile at the serious end, Acting PM Julia Gillard gives those naughty naval lads a serve and expresses the required “disappointment” at the wages freeze decision. Disappointed but perhaps not crushed.

Old stager Bob Brown showed his media savvy by jumping into the news vacuum with a bit of pollys’ perks bashing, and the Black Saturday Royal Commission keeps all the heat/blowtorch/fire metaphors flowing in the media for John Brumby.

Malcolm further up the list this week in perhaps a delayed response to utegate but mainly due to a slew of calls on a couple of highly syndicated commercial talkback programs.

The race to the bottom (absolutely no pun intended) continues in the NRL.
