Nine scores ratings for jam

Nine's debut of Money For Jam averaged 1.3 million viewers last night, though it was lightweight stuff that had little to do with money, and more to do with jam.

The Winners: Seven News was the most watched program with 1.551 million, with Today Tonight next with 1.390 million and Two and a Half Men at 7.30pm 3rd with 1.348 million. Money For Jam debuted at 8pm for Nine with 1.324 million. Seven’s World’s Strictest Parents (UK version) averaged 1.307 million at 7.30pm and Spicks and Specks was 6th at 8.30pm for the ABC with 1.233 million. Home and Away averaged 1.203 million at 7pm, with Nine’s RPA 8th at 8.30pm with 1.175 million. The 7pm repeat of Two and a Half Men averaged 1.169 million for Nine and Seven’s 8.30pm repeat of Criminal Minds averaged 1.146 million. Nine News was 11th with 1.102 million, A Current Affair was 12th with 1.081 million and the 7pm ABC News averaged 1.1051 million in 13th spot. Nine’s The Gift at 9pm averaged 975,000

The Losers: Ten last night from 6pm to Midnight. The 8pm episode of The Simpsons was the network’s most watched show with 790,000 viewers. Even for Ten that was weak. Numb3rs on Ten at 9.30pm, 656,000. Law and Order UK on Ten at 8.30pm, 728,000.

News & CA: Seven News again won nationally and in every market as did Today Tonight. ACA didn’t fall below the million viewer mark, unlike a week ago. Both Nine News (299,000) and ACA (279,000) were again weak in Sydney and the 7pm ABC News (333,000) and The 7.30 Report (299,000). Nationally The 7.30 Report averaged 943,000. Lateline, 241,000, Lateline Business, 155,000. Ten News, 781,000 (a bit low), the late News/Sports Tonight, 370,000. SBS News at 6.30pm, 211,000, the late News at 9.30pm, 186,000. Nine’s late News, 210,000. 7am Sunrise, 370,000, 7am Today, 301,000.

The Stats: Nine won with a 6pm to midnight All People share of 28.7 (26.4%), from Seven 28.6% (28.2%), the ABC was third with 19.8% (19.9%); Ten with 17.8% (20.6%) and ABC with 4.9%. Nine won Melbourne (the margin was enough to win the night nationally) and Adelaide. Seven won Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. In regional areas a win for WIN/NBN with 29.8%, from Prime/7Qld with 28.7%, The ABC with 19.9%, Southern Cross (Ten) with 16.3% and SBS with 5.3%.

Glenn Dyer’s comments: Did anyone in ABC TV management preview and then edit last night’s episode of Spicks and Specks? Because the bit where the songs are played backwards seemed to be horribly confused or incomplete. It was hard to work it out, but something was missing. The second question seemed to run into the third … clumsy.

Money For Jam averaged 1.3 million viewers on the Nine Network at 8pm. How unfortunate. The program was pap. Lightweight stuff that had little to do with money, and more to do with jam. The Librarians at 9pm, 827,000. Not such a great ad for natural child birth, except the end result for Christine — very wry and very funny.

In the digital battle, ABC 2 beat Nine’s Go for a third night. ABC 2 had a share of 2.20%, ABC 1, 17.60%; Nine’s Go was on 1.80%, the main channel, 27.0%, Ten’s One, 1.0%, Ten’s Main Channel, 16.80%, SBS Two with 0.20%, SBS One with 4.80%. Seven had a share figure of 28.60% (its digital channel is not yet separate).

TONIGHT: Seven has shuffled Double Take and TV Burp off to the depths of the night. The Amazing Race is back to 8.30pm and replacing it at 7.30pm is the debut of Garry Unmarried. TV Burp is at 9.30pm, Double Take at 10pm. Those times are still too early for these shockers. Nine has The Footy Shows and perhaps Getaway. Ten has The 7pm Project and Rush if you are desperate. SBS has My Family Feast at 7.30pm and Costa the beard grower at 8pm. The ABC has Q&A.
