They know they believe in the U.S.A and Freedom. But what unites the protesters at this American Tea Party parade in Washington DC?
Not much — except their belief that US President Barack Obama is behind all evil: abortion, communism, taxes, health care problems, spending, the bailout, lies.
But former President Jimmy Carter identifies what he thinks is their real unifying cause — racism, pure and simple:
I think it’s bubbled up to the surface because of a belief among many white people not just in the South but around the country … that African-Americans are not qualified to lead this great country. It’s an abominable circumstance and grieves me and concerns me very deeply.
Jon Stewart, meanwhile is concerned what a black president means for white children.
