Glenn Dyer’s comments: While watching Nine’s Money For Jam last night it was hard not to throw something at the TV set.
Spicks and Specks was moderate last night. Some Hungry Beast hosts have yet to learn that it’s not smart or clever to portray yourself as being smart or clever. But there are a couple with promise who realise you don’t need to exhibit your cleverness or ego to tell a story, who understand that the story is the prime concern. But then where would we get the clever people from?
With Hey Hey out of the way, MasterChef‘s celebrity version was worth staying with. It’s OK, not a patch on the main series and has all the signs of being a quickie. The celebrities are all strangers (can’t have them overshadowing the judges, can we). It’s very serious, not enough fun.
TONIGHT: Getaway on Nine at 7.30pm. Q&A on the ABC at 9.30pm. Costa’s Garden Odyssey on SBS at 8pm. If you want crime, CSI at 8.30pm on Nine and Rush on Ten at the same time. Avoid Beauty and The Geek Australia on Seven at 8.30pm and The Secret Millionaire on Nine at 9.30pm.
