The Winners: Packed to the Rafters was tops with 1.958 million viewers, with RSPCA Animal Rescue next with 1.515 million at 7.30pm. All Saints‘ last ever episode at 9.30pm averaged a very good 1.512 million (and boosted Seven’s share very nicely). Last Chance Surgery at 8pm for Seven averaged 1.477 million, with NCIS 5th with 1.371 million for Ten. Seven News was 6th with 1.335 million and Today Tonight was next with 1.249 million. Nine’s 20 to 1 at 7.30pm averaged 1.244 million, with the 7pm repeat of Two and a Half Men averaged 1.216 million. A Current Affair was 10th with 1.176 million, Home and Away was 11th with 1.155 million and Nine News was 12th with an audience of 1.131 million. Ten’s 9.30pm program, Lie To Me, averaged 974,000.

The Losers: Two and a Half Men on Nine at 8.30pm, 862,000. Curb Your Enthusiasm, the second part of the claimed “Seinfeld reunion” at 9pm, 596,000. Even worse was Aussie Ladette To Lady, 574,000. It is crass TV.

News & CA: Seven News again won nationally and in every market but Melbourne where Nine popped up narrowly. It was the same result in the Today Tonight/A Current Affair battle. Ten News averaged 781,000, the late News/Sports Tonight, 433,000. The 7pm ABC News, 988,000, The 7.30 Report, 824,000. Lateline, 158,000, Lateline Business, 90,000. Nine’s late News, 130,000 at 11.30pm. SBS News at 6.30pm on SBS, 181,000, Insight, 182,000, the 9.30pm News, 129,000. 7am Sunrise, 359,000, 7am Today, 320,000. Still close.

The Stats: Seven won with a 6pm to midnight All People share of 35.0% (31.5% a week ago), from Nine with a combined 24.1%(25.5%), Ten with a combined share of 22.3% (24.4%), the ABC with 14.7% (14.4%) and SBS with 3.9% (4.15). Seven won all five metro markets and leads the week 30.5% to 27.1% for Nine (which is a combined figure).

In regional areas a win to Prime/7Qld with 37.8%, WIN/NBN was on 22.0%, Southern Cross (Ten) was on 20.7%, the ABC was on 14.3% and SBS was on 5.0%.

Digitally: Nine’s GO topped the list with 2.70% (leaving the Nine main channel on 21.40%), ABC 2 was on 1.70% (ABC 1, 13.00%), Ten’s ONE was on 0.70% (Ten’s main channel was on 21.60% and therefore finished second to Seven). SBS TWO was on 0.30% and SBS ONE was on 3.60%.

Glenn Dyer’s comments: Seven won easily and Packed to the Rafters had its best figures this part of its 2009 season. When the digital shares were stripped out, Nine finished third behind Ten in the main channel battle, thanks to the very poor figures at 9pm for Curb Your Enthusiasm, AKA the “Seinfeld reunion”.

The best program on TV last night was a tossup between Foreign Correspondent‘s excellent report on the Air France Airbus Brazil disaster, and then the latest episode of Packed to the Rafters on Seven immediately after at 8.30pm. The Foreign Correspondent report was solid, informative and investigative.

TONIGHT: Spicks and Specks at 8.30pm, perhaps Hungry Beast at 9pm and John Safran’s Race Relations at 9.30pm. No, make Mr Safran’s offering a must watch. Nine has RPA Where Are They Now?. Seven has City Homicide. Ten has Celebrity MasterChef at 7.30pm with Dateline‘s George Negus cooking moustache pie.
