The Losers: Spicks and Specks averaged 974,000 viewers last night. Now that’s not loser territory, but there has been a slow draft of viewers away from this ABC stalwart this year. It’s not dying, just fading. There was nothing wrong with last night’s episode except that it obviously ran well over time and was cut back. It was popular with 25 to 54s. Cold Case on Nine at 9.30pm, 759,000. Burn Notice on Ten at 10pm, 468,000. Ten said it won the 16 to 39 age group. They must have been desperates.

News & CA: Seven News again won nationally and in every market. Today Tonight won everywhere bar Melbourne were ACA got up. The 7pm ABC News averaged 932,000, The 7.30 Report, 697,000 and Lateline, 244,000 and Lateline Business, 115,000. Nine’s Nightline averaged 197,000 viewers around 11.30pm. Glenn Dyer’s comments: Well, Seven won All people, Ten says it won 16 to 39s and 18 to 49s. Seven says it won All people, 18 to 49s and 25 to 54s. Nine says it won 25 to 54s, on the East Coast.

TONIGHT: Unfortunately the AFL and NRL Footy Shows are on tonight at 9.30pm. It’s still amazing that some TV and sports writers are conflating the two separate shows figures when writing about one. So some commentators have said that the NRL program was watched by 749,000. No, it was watched by 179,000 in Sydney and around 95,000 in Brisbane. The AFL program was watched by 299,000 in Melbourne. After that poor start in Melbourne, I would be punting on an atrocity or two to get viewers back in front of their sets.

Elsewhere. Cougar Town and How I Met Your Mother on Seven (the latter more than the former). Ten has So You Think You Can Dance. The ABC is not worth a glance except for Clarke and Dawes at the end of The 7.30 Report.

The repeat of The Mentalist on Nine at 8.30pm might we worth a look. Or you could try two fresh offerings on SBS; the Food Safari back at 7.30pm with an Italian theme. And Costa’s Garden Odyssey back at 8 pm. They might fill your night!
