The latest Morgan poll is a face-to-face survey of 1930 respondents conducted over the past two weekends. It shows Labor’s two-party lead at 56-44, down from 58-42 at the previous fortnight’s survey. Labor has taken a five-point hit on the primary vote, down to 43 per cent, while the Greens have bounced from 8.5 per cent to 12 per cent. Significantly, the survey period began immediately after the government announced it was suspending processing claims of asylum seekers from Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. The Coalition primary vote is up one point to 37.5 per cent.
