It doesn’t get much tackier than Troy Buswell, who, at the time of writing, just resigned as the Treasurer of Western Australia.
Buswell is the poster boy for the dark side of Australian political behaviour: a chair sniffer (whatever that entails), a bra snapper and, as he acknowledged yesterday, a government Treasurer who dipped into the public purse to faciliate s-xual encounters with another member of the Western Australian parliament.
While it’s true that political leaders are entitled to private lives as long as they don’t conflict with their public duties, there is a point at which the behaviour of senior politicians should also be judged by something equally important in the context of their elevated position as role models.
It’s called decorum, and The Honourable Troy Buswell BEc, MLA, (former) Treasurer and Minister for Commerce, Science and Innovation, Housing and Works, doesn’t have a shred of it.
Buswell rightly exited because of a seedy $300 hotel bill, but let’s hope that an added bonus should be less press conferences called on anything related to bra snapping, squirrel gripping or writhing in “mock sexual pleasure”.
Good riddance Troy Buswell – WA’s serial sleazebag!!
It does get a little tackier, actually.
On Sky News PM Agenda yesterday, Barnaby Joyce lost his moral compass and said that Troy’s adultery was a private matter and none of our business, or words to that effect.
This is the same Barney who spoke against and voted against gay rights to equality under federal law.
It seems that not only has his shadow portfolio gone to water but so has his sense of morality.
Perhaps Barnaby sees Troy as a fellow “real person” ie someone who stuffs up all the time. He is a “real person” in the same sense that the boy who was constantly deliberately farting at the back of the class was a “real person”.
Troy Buswell & Brian Waldron – related? resemblance unreal
@RICHARD JONES – Well said!What a grotty little man?(sorry fellas) he is!
