The Winners: MasterChef averaged 1.643 million for Ten at 7.30pm with another brutal elimination. Seven News was second with 1.430 million people and Glee on Ten at 8pm did well and averaged 1.293 million people. Today Tonight averaged 1.273 million and Nine News was 5th with 1.164 million. A Current Affair averaged 1.082 million, Sea Patrol, 1.076 million for Nine at 8.30pm and the 7pm ABC News with 1.017 million.

The Losers: Seven at 8.30pm and 7.30pm in southern markets. The Amazing Race at 9.30pm on Seven, 608,000.

News & CA: Seven News again won nationally and in every market as did Today Tonight. The wins by both programs were close in Sydney, but wins nevertheless. Ten News averaged 786,000, the late News/Sports Tonight, 233,000. The 7.30 Report, 721,000. Lateline, 249,000, Lateline Business, 134,000. SBS News at 6.30pm, 176,000, the late edition, 187,000. 7am Sunrise, 390,000, 7am Today, 338,000.

The Stats:

FTA: Nine won with a share of 29.5%, from Seven on 25.2%, Ten on 23.8%, the ABC with 16.7% and SBS on 4.8%. Nine won Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. Seven won Adelaide. Nine leads the week, 29.9%, from Seven with 27.8%.

Main Channel: Nine won here with a share of 24.5%, from Ten with 22.5%, Seven on 22.2%, ABC 1 on 13.7% and SBS ONE on 4.5%. Nine won Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Seven won Adelaide and Seven and Nine shared Perth. Ten was second in Sydney and Brisbane. Nine leads the week with 26.7%, from Seven with 24.9%.

Digital: GO win with a share of 5.0% (larger than SBS’s combined share of 4.8%), from 7TWO with 3.0%, ABC 2, 2.4%, GO, 1.3%, ABC 3, 0.6% and SBS TWO, 0.3%. The six digital channels had a total share of 12.6%, with a share in Adelaide of 17.5% and more than 14% in Perth. The total share in Adelaide was more than the combined share for the ABC. GO leads the week with 3.2%, from 7TWO on 2.9%.

Pay TV: Nine won with 24.5%, with Seven on 21.0%, Ten on 19.8%, Pay TV, 14.7%, the ABC, 13.9% and SBS, 4.0%. The 11 FTA channels shared in an 85.3% share. the 100-plus Pay TV channels shared the reported 14.7%.

Regional: WIN/NBN won with a share of 32.1%, from Prime/7Qld with 23.6%, SC Ten, 20./1%, the ABC, 17.6% and SBS, 6.7%. The main channels were won by WIN/NBN with 28.4%, from Prime/7Qld with 21.3%, GO won the digital channels with 3.7%, from &TWO with 2.2% and ABC 2 on 1.8%. WIN/NBN lead the week.

Glenn Dyer’s comments: An easy win for Nine as Seven’s Thursday night black hole continues. The Matty Johns Show in Sydney and Brisbane at 7.30pm had more viewers than Nine’s NRL Footy Show two hours later, but Seven is still well off the pace. In Sydney Seven’s NRL show averaged 258,000 at 7.30pm and 133,000 in Brisbane, better than Nine’s program with 143,000 and 94,000. Sad.

Nine’s AFL Footy Show with 321,000 in Melbourne, held its footy shows up last night. The two programs averaged a low 747,000. Italian Food Safari on SBS at 7.30 pm, 281,000, Costa’s Garden Odyssey at 8pm, 213,000.

The Inquisition, 656,000, was about right for a production that somehow missed the mark in telling us just how important the Wood Royal Commission in NSW was.

Ten won the major demos again last night thanks to MasterChef and Glee from 7.30pm to 9pm. The 7pm Project averaged 820,000 for another solid night. The strong audiences for the digital channels tells us how little there was on the main channels, except for MasterChef and Glee.

TONIGHT: AFL and NRL in some states (AFL in the south, NRL in the north). Lewis in the north on Seven. MasterChef on Ten, Waking The Dead on the ABC.

SATURDAY: NRL and AFL on Foxtel and Ten. Blue Murder on the ABC at 9.15. Nothing on Seven and Nine. The AFL on Ten is only in the south, Ten has movies and two hours of Monk, which is the most boring crime show ever made, in northern markets.

SUNDAY: Lots of political stuff with the Federal budget next Tuesday, NRL on Nine, AFL on Seven. (Swans vs. Cats). Back to back episodes of Underbelly on Nine from 8.30pm, MasterChef on Ten and then The Good Wife. Seven has Sunday Night (an hour before 60 Minutes on Nine) and Bones. Foyle’s War is back on the ABC at 8.35pm.
