Seven News and Today Tonight had a rare clean sweep over Nine News and A Current Affair. TT and ACA devoted the first 10 minutes of last night’s programs to MasterChef. They re-purposed all the Ten vision of the MasterChef final, meaning they didn’t show the Ten Network watermark. The desperation in these fading programs to be associated with a ratings monster was sad to see last night

Glenn Dyer’s comments: Last night there was no MasterChef, back to normal transmission with Seven and Nine going at each other and Ten nibbling at the demos and doing well.

The 7PM Project, 1.199 million, without MasterChef. Won the 7pm timeslot and will now be watched to see if it fades, or whether viewers attracted during MasterChef stick round in coming weeks. Ten says it was doing better before MasterChef arrived and The 7PM Project could be the biggest winner from MasterChef (besides Ten’s profit and loss account).

Rescue Special Ops, just over 1 million and renewed for a third series next year by Nine. Good News Week just pipped it on Ten.

TONIGHT: Packed to the Rafters on Seven at 8.30pm. Foreign Correspondent on the ABC at 8pm, a Top Gear repeat on Nine at 7.30pm. SBS has Insight at 7.30pm, Ten has Modern Family at 7.30pm.

And I forgot the 2003 Rugby Grand Final and a Leyton Hewitt Australian Open final yesterday in ranking MasterChef’s grand finale. But MasterChef’s audience was still the highest achieved for a regularly series style program in Australian TV.
