Glenn Dyer’s comments: Last week Gruen Nation averaged 1.6 million viewers, last night a fall to 1.503 million. And Yes We Canberra averaged 1.493 million last week, and last night 196,000 fewer viewers at 1.297 million.
The ABC’s prime time share for its main channel, ABC 1 averaged 23% last Wednesday, last night, 20.1%.
Spicks and Specks, at 8.30pm, averaged 1.499 million last week and 1.366 million last night, so perhaps it was the lower lead in. The turnoff from Gruen Nation to Yes We Canberra widened from 107,000 last week to just over 200,000, which is sizeable.
Historical note: The national audience for MasterChef has been adjusted to take accounts of seven day recordings. There were an extra 65,000 viewers who recorded the final last Sunday week and watched on replay after 2am Monday, July 26.
That took the total metro audience to 4.029 million and the regional audience was up by 24,000 to 1.184 million. Combining the new metro and regional figures, the finale had a total national audience of 4.637 million and the winner had a total audience nationally of 5.213 million.
TONIGHT: The usual Thursday night black hole on Seven. Nine starts repeats of The Mentalist instead of Sea Patrol which is on shore leave. Getaway finally discovers the fact that a lot of people travel overseas to eat and drink well in some amazing places from 7.30pm. Ten has Rush. A good night for something else.
