Talk of doom and devastation makes the press

Everyone went to water over the past week, our glorious leaders in the metaphorical sense and back at home almost everyone else in the literal sense, Tony Burke moving sideways both ways at a great rate of knots as Barnaby Joyce and the rest of the Coalition talked of doom and devastation, while the Greens and environmentalists talked of … doom and devastation.

Penny Wong also leapt up the list as both the former Water Minister and in trying to keep the Coalition costings issue in the news as long as possible, while the independents are gently slipping down the list — we’re sure they’ll be back soon enough.

And to wrap up the seven days the PM had a blast at the twitterati, blaming them for her messages not getting across effectively to the public. Sure, that may be a factor, but there may also be something about the actual messages that has something to do with it too.

Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott getting plenty of comment, not much of it favourable, but whatever people think of Kevin Rudd, he clearly remains prominent in the public mind, even when he’s not at the centre of the political discussion.

The Bollywood themes continue, heartbreak, controversy, ultimate success with a nasty bout of illness thrown in to round it all off.
