The Winners: $#*! My Dad Says (873,000 at 8pm) was weak ahead of the final Underbelly telemovie, Underbelly Files: The Man Who Got Away, for Nine. Seven was simply stronger overall and dominated the demos as well. Glee on Ten at 7.30pm, 921,000. My Kitchen Rules goes from strength to strength for Seven.

The Losers: Nine because with its line up it again would have been expecting to do better. Not surprisingly the repeat of NCIS at 8.30pm averaged 747,000 for Ten. Good News Week at 9.30pm fell to 487,000. Ten is struggling on Monday nights.

News & CA: A big night for news and current affairs junkies. Q&A was better than I thought it would be, but the real stars of the program are the tweets. Barnaby Joyce was surprisingly rational. A Current Affair came back and won Melbourne from TT. TT won the rest. Nine News won Melbourne and Brisbane. Seven won the rest. 6PM With George Negus topped the 400,000 viewers level (muted cheers from Ten).

  • FTA: Seven (3 channels) won with a share of 33.5% from Nine (3) on 27.4%, Ten (3) on 18.2%, the ABC (4) was on 16.3% and SBS (2) finished with 4.6%. Seven leads the week on 31.3% from Nine on 27.8% and Ten on 19.2%.
  • Main Channel: Seven won with a share of 25.4%, from Nine on 22.8%, Ten on 14.0%, ABC 1, 13.6% and SBS ONE, 4.0%. Seven leads the week with 23.6% from Nine on 21.9% and Ten on 15.5%.
  • Digital: 7TWO won with 4.4%, from Eleven and 7Mate on 3.7%, Gem on 2.6%, GO was on 1.9%, ABC 2, 1.4%, News 24 was on 0.7%, SBS TWO, 0.6%, ABC 3, 0.5% and ONE was on 0.4%. The 10 channels had an FTA prime time share of 19.7% last night. 7TWO leads the week on 4.1% from 7Mate on 3.6% and GO on 3.2%.
  • Pay TV: Seven (3 channels) won with an average of 27.6% from Nine (3), on 22.6%, Pay TV (100 plus channels) was on 15.1%, Ten (3), was on 15.0%, the ABC (4), 13.4% and SBS (2), was on 3.8%. The 15 FTA channels shared 84.9% of the total TV audience in prime time last night. Of that the 10 digital channels accounted for 17.7% and the five main channels, 67.2%.
  • Regional: Prime/7Qld (3 channels) won overall with 33.6% from WIN/NBN (3) on 29.3%, the ABC (4) on 17.3%, SC Ten (15.3%) and SBS (2) was on 4.5%. WIN/NBN won the main channels with 25.0% from Prime/7Qld on 24.4%, ABC 1 was on 14.4% and SC Ten fell to just 11.6%. 7TWO won the digitals with a share of 5.5%, from 7Mate on 3.7% and Eleven was on 3.3%. The 10 digital channels had a. FTA prime time share of 20.6% last night. Prime/7Qld leads the week on 32.1% from WIN/NBN on 29.6%.

Major Markets: Seven won overall and in every market from Nine. Ten was third everywhere bar Melbourne where the ABC got up into third overall and in the main channels with its current affairs line up. 7TWO won everywhere bar Brisbane where Eleven was more popular. Seven leads the week from Nine and Ten except in Adelaide where the ABC is third.

Glenn Dyer’s comments: The good news for Nine is that viewers rediscovered ACA last night. The bad news was that they went off Underbelly. It just made the million viewer level and while it did OK in some demos (males), it lost more ground in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. This is bad news for Nine’s Underbelly series later in the year. Nine returns This Is Your Life to 8.30pm next Monday night.

Ten’s slump last night was the big story. It narrowly retained third overall and on the main channels, but the ABC and its current affairs line up gave it a real run, and beat it in regional areas. It finished 4th in Melbourne behind the ABC.

TONIGHT: Packed to the Rafters on Seven at 8.30pm and My Kitchen Rules an hour earlier. Seven also has a new kitchen program at 9.30pm called Conviction Kitchen. Seven is starting it tonight after Packed to the Rafters to expose it to as many people as possible. It moves to 8.30pm next Monday, replacing Bones.

Nine has Top Gear at 8pm. Ten has Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation and a fresh NCIS from 7.30pm through 9.30pm. The ABC has Foreign Correspondent at 8pm on Ireland. It also has the second part of Life At 5 at 8.30pm. On SBS Insight returns at 7.30pm. Ben Elton Live from Planet Earth on Nine at 9.30pm, if you are feeling generous and want to give a loser a hand.
