The Winners: That tells it all, it was downhill from 7pm on all networks. A sad night of TV really.

  1. Seven News (6pm) — 1.173 million
  2. Today Tonight (Seven) (6.30pm) — 1.091 million

The Losers: Heston’s Mission Impossible on Seven at 7.30pm, 730,000. Did well in the demos, but submerging slowly. The Million Dollar Drop, 770,000. It’s just a boring program. Getaway, 8pm on Nine, 740,000. It is also submerging, slowly, towards the sea floor.

News & CA: Seven News won all five metro markets, Sydney by 2,000 viewers. ACA won Sydney by a thousand viewers, lost the rest.

Glenn Dyer’s comments: Seven won and in the demos as well.

The AFL Footy Show was watched by 355,000 in Melbourne, the biggest audience in that market and the country last night. The NRL Footy Show in Sydney, 98,000, in Brisbane, 56,000. The worst ratings ever for these programs. If it was any other program it would have gone years ago, but because Nine has the NRL, it has to keep this rubbish on TV. Viewers have decided, it’s terrible TV. Does Nine get the message?

The ONE NRL program at 9.30pm, Game Plan, was watched by 104,000 people around the country, which is a far better return for Ten than what the NRL Footy Show gave for Nine.

TONIGHT: AFL on Seven in the Southern states, NRL on Nine in the north. New Tricks on the ABC, Better Homes and Gardens. The Boat That Rocked at 8.30pm in the north (average movie). Ten has The 7pm Project and The Biggest Loser: Families.

Saturday: AFL on Ten in the afternoon and night, AFL and NRL on Foxtel. Nothing much elsewhere. Maybe Spooks on the ABC, RocKwiz on SBS.

Sunday: The morning chats, if you are interested. AFL and NRL on Seven, Nine and Foxtel during the day. From prime time its two weeks of repeats as the non-ratings period kicks in. So check your guides and watch with caution. Better still go out. News, sport and weather will be the only things that are real.
