The Winners: The Block added 72,000 viewers last night. The rest of Nine’s schedule, apart from the 6pm News, was missing in action. Very weak night. Offspring on Ten after MasterChef , 904,000. Ten is desperate if it has to run this high quality series twice a week to fill a hole.

Angry Boys on the ABC at 9pm, 634,000, up from the State of Origin low of last week, but a million or more viewers seems so far away.

Go Back To Where You Came From on SBS, 569,000. It has upset the faux conservative, Paul Sheehan in the Sydney Morning Herald, a good thing.

  • FTA: Seven (3 channels) won with a share of 29.2%, from Ten (3) on 25.5%, Nine was third with 24.1%, the ABC (4) was on 15.0% and SBS (2) ended with 6.1%. Seven leads the week with 32.2% from Nine on 25.2% and Ten on 23.9%.
  • Main Channel: Seven won with a share of 21.3%, from Ten on 19.3%, Nine was on 18.4%, ABC 1, 11.3% and SBS ONE, 5.5%. Seven leads the week with 24.4% from Nine on 19.2% and Ten with 18.3%.
  • Digital: 7TWO won with 4.7%, from Eleven with 3.8%, GO was on 3.7%, 7mate was on 3.2%, One and ABC 2 were on 2.5% each, Gem was on 2.0% and News 24, ABC 3 and SBS TWO finished with 0.6% each. That’s an FTA viewing share last night of 24.2%. 7mate leads the week with 4.0% from 7TWO leads the week with 3.8% and GO on 3.7%.
  • Pay TV: Seven (3 channels) won with a share of 24.5% from Ten (3) on 21.4%, Nine was on 20.2%, Pay TV (100 plus channels) was on 13.6%, the ABC (4) was on 12.6% and SBS (2) ended with 5.1%. That’s a total viewing share for the FTA channels of 86.4%, made up of 20.3% for the digitals and 66.1% for the five main channels.
  • Regional: Prime/7Qld (3 channels) won with a share of 30.4%, from WIN/NBN (3) on 27.7%, with SC Ten (3) on 19.8%, the ABC (4) on 15.9% and SBS (2) was on 6.3%. Prime/7Qld won the main channels with 22.0%, with WIN/NBN just behind on 21.7%. 7TWO won the digitals with 5.0% from GO and Eleven on 4.0% each. the 10 digital channels had a total FTA share of 25.5% in prime time last night. Prime/7Qld lead the week with 32.8% from WIN/NBN on 27.5%.

Major Markets: Seven won overall in all five metro markets, and won the main channels in four. The except was Melbourne where Ten won the main channels, with Nine second and Seven third: MasterChef and The Block are popular in Melbourne. 7TWO won the digitals in all five metro markets. Seven leads Nine and Ten in Sydney and Melbourne. In Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, it’s Seven from Ten and Nine.

Glenn Dyer’s comments: Seven’s night, with a fairly average night of viewing. The Block won 7pm, Nine lost the rest. MasterChef was very strong for Ten, Offspring was OK, the rest went missing.

Loved the ABC voice over promo just before 6.55pm which spruiked Tuesday night’s highlights including the encore screening of Angry Boys!

Over on 7TWO, Todd Woodbridge and John Newcombe looked they were hosting Wimbledon from a very narrow room. The duo were almost cheek by cheek. Them’s the drawbacks on a single camera hosting position. The Wimbledon wallpaper behind the hosts was hideous.

TONIGHT: Nine’s chance to shine The Block at 7pm and the AFL Footy Show‘s strength in Melbourne, offsetting the weak NRL program. The Block is an hour tonight, and, at 8pm, Nine returns Hot Property and at 8.30pm starts a new series Inside The Human Body.

Seven has its usual cast of female popular programs: How I Met Your Mother goes into double repeats from tonight.

Ten has MasterChef and doubled episodes of repeats of Law and Order SUV from 8.30pm.

SBS starts a new food series, French Food Safari, at 7.30pm and has another episode of Lyndey and Blair’s Taste of Greece and the final episode of Go Back To Where You Came From. The ABC has another episode of On Trial and and another one of Baker Boys (which is all but invisible now). All in all, not a bad night of offerings for a Thursday
