The Winners: Seven’s night in All People, but Nine and especially Ten grabbed big shares in the demos. Offspring had its highest audience so far this year. There was a bit more zing in it. Kat Stewart lifts the program every time she comes to the forefront of the storyline.
- MasterChef Australia (Ten) (7.30pm) — 1.693 million
- Seven News (6pm) — 1.313 million
- The Block (Nine) (7pm) — 1.275 million
- Today Tonight (Seven) (6.30pm) — 1.258 million
- Nine News (6pm) — 1.183 million
- Offspring (Ten) (8.30pm) — 1.070 million
- A Current Affair (Nine) (6.30pm) — 1.048 million

The Losers: On a night when Seven had a line up much weaker than Sunday, Monday or Tuesday, it did well in All People. But it faded somewhat in the demos, so everyone was a winner, and a loser, sort of. The tennis was a one off boost.
News & CA: Nine news won Sydney and Melbourne, Seven News won the rest. TT won all five metro markets (something of a surprise, given Nine News’ wins in Sydney and Melbourne).
Sunrise is still in front in the morning.

Major Markets: Thanks in part to the Wimbledon tennis, Seven did better, especially as you moved west and the game fell earlier into prime time (especially in Perth). Seven won from Ten and Nine overall and in the main channels in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. In Brisbane it was Seven from Nine and Ten. 7TWO won the digitals very easily (thanks Tomic). Seven leads the week from Nine and Ten in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. In Adelaide and Perth, it’s Seven from Ten and Nine.
(All shares on the basis of combined overnight 6pm to midnight All People)
Glenn Dyer’s comments: Seven won well overall with the Tomic match on 7TWO and then on Seven’s main channel helping. Nine and Ten were far more competitive than it seems on face value and one should have really got home ahead of Seven on the main channels.
The tennis on 7TWO averaged 718,000 which is the highest audience so far for a digital channel (beat the Royal Wedding, 519,000). The peak audience was 960,000 (that is viewers watching briefly). Seven’s coverage from 11am to late averaged 44,000, but the peak was 909,000 (before midnight with Tomic still playing).
For the actual Tomic game, 7TWO averaged 784,324 viewers and Seven averaged 618,086. That’s around 701,000 viewers, on average.
MasterChef had a national audience of 2.226 million, with 533,000 viewers in regional areas and 1.693 million in the five metro markets.
The Block had 434,000 viewers in the regionals and with the 1.275 million in the metro markets, had 1.709 million viewers nationally.
TONIGHT: The Block on Nine and the blockheads on the AFL and NRL Footy Shows. Nine also has a particularly tough episode of Inside The Human Body. Watch with caution and not with kids, especially. Seven has its female skewing programs. No Ordinary Family is now on 7.30pm tonight, as well as Mondays. Ten has MasterChef. The ABC doesn’t have much at all.
