The Winners: With the World Cup final and then Underbelly: Razor, Nine was always going to win.
The audience for the Rugby World Cup final was 558,000 down on the Australia versus NZ final a week ago.
Seven’s Wild Boys averaged 922,000, which wasn’t bad again the rugby (which was a tremendous game).

The Losers: No one really, the Rugby World Cup final was a one off.
News & CA: Nine News won Sydney and Melbourne, but lost Brisbane by 219,000 viewers, which would have to be one of the biggest losing margins.
The Rugby World Cup final, New Zealand versus France, was the most watched program in Sydney last night with 436,000. It was the second most watched program in Brisbane with 286,000.
Sunday Night was again strong and nationally beat the Rugby World Cup final in the AFL markets and also beat everything else in regional markets.

- FTA: Nine (3 channels) won with a share of 31.2% from Seven (3) on 29.0%, Ten (3) was on 21.2%, the ABC (4) ended with 14.3%, SBS (2) was on 4.3%.
- Main Channel: Nine won with 25.2% from Seven on 21.8%, Ten was on 14.0%, ABC 1 was on 10.8% and SBS ONE ended on 3.6%.
- Digital: 7mate was on 3.8% from Eleven on 3.7%, GO on 3.6%, 7TWO was on 3.5%, as was ONE. Gem was on 2.4%, ABC 2 was on 2.1%, News 24 was on 0.9%, SBS TWO was on 0.7% and ABC 3 ended on 0.5%. The 10 digital channels had a total FTA share last night of 21.0%.
Pay TV: Nine (3 channels) won with a share of 24.3% from Seven (3) on 22.6%, pay TV was on 19.7%, Ten (3) was on 16.5%, the ABC (4) ended with 11.1%, SBS (2) was on 3.4%. The 15 FTA channels had a share of 80.3% last night, the lowest outside Friday and Saturday nights for some time. The pay TV share was the highest last night outside Friday or Saturday nights for some time as well (it was 17.8% last week). The 10 FTA digitals had a share of 19.2% and the five main channels were on 61.1%.

Regional: Prime/7Qld (3 channels) won with a share of 31.8% from WIN/NBN (3) on 30.8%, SC Ten (3) was on 19.4%, The ABC (4) was on 14.5% and SBS (2) ended on 3.5%. WIN/NBN won the main channels with 24.6% with Prime/7Qld on 22.6%. &TWO won the digitals with 5.4% from GO on 4.5% and 7mate on 3.8%. One and Eleven were on 3.7% each. The 10 digital channels had an FTA share of 27.1%.

Major Markets: Nine won Sydney and Brisbane, overall and the main channels from Seven and Ten. Seven won Melbourne overall, but Nine won the main channels. Seven won Adelaide and Perth overall and in the main channels. GO won Sydney, Gem won Perth, Eleven won Brisbane, 7mate won Melbourne and 7TWO won Adelaide.

Glenn Dyer’s comments: Last week, Seven won the week overall and in the main channels and the digital ones as well. Nine won Sydney, Seven won Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Ten was beaten into third spot in the main channels by the ABC: the share figures were ABC 1 13.6%, Ten, 13.0%.
In all channels, ABC 1 beat Ten’s main channel on four nights and was narrowly pipped on Friday night for third. In the regionals, prime/7Qld won overall and the main channels, as well as the digitals.
Seven’s 6pm News in Sydney continues to founder. And Seven is preparing to make wholesale changes at Sunrise. That will mean a tough year for the network in the breakfast slot with Ten starting its breakfast program from early 2012. And A Current Affair is heading towards a shake up as well after another week with its average audience well under a million viewers.
The Rugby World Cup semi-final between Australia and New Zealand last week had a total audience on FTA and pay TV of 3.266 million. (2.54 million in metro and regional markets and 719,000 on pay TV).
Friday night’s Australia versus Wales third place play-off had 1.114 million viewers on Nine and WIN across the country and a further 385,000 on Pay TV, for a total of 1.499 million people.

- Packed to the Rafters — 2.339 million
- The X Factor (Tuesday) — 2.115 million
- The X Factor (Monday) — 2.028 million

Including pay TV (648,000), the RWC final had a total national audience of 2.401 million, down from the 3.266 million (including pay TV) for the Australia versus New Zealand semi-final.
Tonight: The ABC News and Current Affairs hours. Seven has The X Factor. Nine has The Big Bang Theory and then The Mentalist. Ten has Junior MasterChef.
