Boxing legend Smokin’ Joe Frazier died yesterday after a short illness with liver cancer. He was 67. Frazier was an Olympic gold medalist, although his boxing immortality is a result of his participation in some of boxing’s greatest ever bouts, coinciding with him being the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world in 1970. It’s his three fights against Muhammad Ali that stand out. His first fight against Ali, in 1971, promoted as the “Fight of the Century”, proved to be one of the greatest fights of all time, a fight that Frazier won.
