The Glenn Dyer breakdown: My Kitchen Rules ruled again last night, and so did Seven. Ten and Nine were not in the market. It was a weak night.

Ten’s Breakfast program started with 51,000 viewers. Sunrise (Seven) and Today (Nine) both saw audiences higher than earlier in the week, probably because of the ALP leadership brawl. So did ABC News 24 Breakfast, which had 56,000 viewers yesterday morning from 6am to 9am.

News 24 had another solid night with a share of 1.6%, not as high as the night before. The Drum was again its most watched program. The 7pm ABC News had another night in the top national programs, as did 7.30. So don’t believe people who say the public is bored by the story. There is interest and its showing up on the ABC in particular and SKY News on Pay TV, which saw a rise in its share of Pay TV viewing yesterday.

Tonight: Australia versus Sri Lanka in an ODI cricket match from Hobart. The ABC debuts Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries. Luther returns at 9.30pm. SBS has an interesting new series called God in America. Seven has Better Homes and Gardens. On Ten, The Biggest Loser and Glee. Foxtel has the AFL Nab Cup and Super Rugby’s 2012 season starts tonight.

Saturday: New Tricks and then Accused (final). Accused is great TV, but so grim. Ignore Seven (old movies) and Nine (old movies). Ten has repeats of a Jamie Oliver, and fresh ones of Undercover Boss USA and The Graham Norton Show. Mad Men on SBS at 9.30pm.

Sunday: The morning chats, the ALP leadership story is fodder for Insiders and The Bolt Report. Weekend Sunrise and Weekend Today should be able to get the pollies on.

At night, Midsomer Murders is still finding dead bodies in rural England. Seven has Border Security after Sunday Night and Bones. Nine has an ODI cricket match between Australia and India from Sydney. A bit late in the year to care. Ten’s once solid line up of Young Talent Time, Modern Family, New Girl and Homeland is under pressure. Time to shape up or ship out?
