The Glenn Dyer breakdown: Seven’s night, easily. Ten was pushed to 4th by the strong Monday evening news and current affairs line up on ABC. Ten put out a release boasting of higher audiences in the early evening. That might be so, but it’s still low and the rest of the ratings night is a black hole.

The first Monday Night NRL game on Pay TV averaged a solid 321,000 for the Souths versus Easts thriller, won in the last 20 seconds by Easts. That again underlines why the NRL is of greater importance to Pay TV than the AFL.

Tonight: Will cricket on Nine beat Seven’s female friendly line-up, including My Kitchen Rules and Packed to the Rafters? A big test for viewing habits. Australia could win the ODI, so lot’s of blokes will want to watch. Without saying so, Nine is wanting Sri Lanka to win tonight, because that would give it a third final on Thursday night and a probable win.

Foreign Correspondent on ABC 1 at 8pm. Ten has NCIS at 8.30pm and The Biggest Loser at 7pm. Ten should do better tonight than it did last night. SBS has Insight and Dateline from 8.30pm.
