The Glenn Dyer breakdown: Seven’s night in a close one as The Great Mint Swindle kept Nine in the game.

My Kitchen Rules didn’t do as well on Sunday nights as it had been doing Monday to Thursdays (down 200,000-300,000 viewers). But it still averaged more than 2 million viewers nationally and was the only program to reach that level last night.

Nine’s documentary The Great Barrier Reef  was OK, but Karl Stefanovic’s voice over had all the emotive depth of a starfish. It needs someone like David Attenborough, whose voice automatically tells viewers this wildlife documentary is worth watching.

Ten was weak. Modern Family at 7.30pm was its best performer with 872,000, followed by Homeland at 8.30pm with 810,000. Not a sustainable Sunday night line-up with those figures.

Last Week: Seven by another big margin. Seven won overall, the main channel and the digitals in metro and regional areas. Seven has the top six programs for the week again.

Tonight: News and current affairs for hours on ABC 1; Q&A and Media Watch might be the highlights. Seven has My Kitchen Rules and Revenge (gets real tonight?). Nine has The Big Bang Theory and then Alcatraz. Ten has The Biggest Loser. Pay TV has Monday Night NRL.
