The Glenn Dyer breakdown: The Voice captured an impressive 3.378 million audience and The Block did OK — especially in Sydney and Melbourne. But Seven won Adelaide and Perth, despite The Voice being the top show in both markets. So Nine won the night again but Seven narrowed the weekly gap after two night and will go on to win the week in those markets, like it did last week.
The Block was especially weak in Adelaide and Perth. It was also weak in regional areas, but still a top 10 program.
Ten was pushed into 4th in the metro markets by the ABC and its solid line up of news and current affairs.
The Ten Network says it will launch the 2012 season of MasterChef Australia on Sunday May 6. So who will be crunched? Seven looks like being the candidate with Dancing with the Stars already being hammered by The Voice on Nine. But if MasterChef can’t finish higher than Seven’s Dancing with the Stars and Australia’s Got Talent in the week from May 6, then Ten’s year is over, despite what happens in the back half of the ratings year.
Tonight: The Block, The Voice and a fresh episode of The Big Bang Theory on Nine. Seven has Australia’s Got Talent and Packed to the Rafters. The ABC has Country Town Rescue and the Miss Marple repeat. Ten has The Biggest Loser, Bondi Vet and a fresh NCIS. SBS has Insight (on manufacturing) and Dateline.
Tomorrow: Anzac Day stuff. AFL on Seven (main channel and 7mate) and on Pay TV. NRL on Pay TV as well. Nine has The Block and The Celebrity Apprentice from 7pm. Seven has Australia’s Got Talent and another episode of Titanic miniseries. Ten has The Biggest Loser, Offspring and The Good Wife. The ABC has the nice Wild Life At the Zoo at 8pm.
