The Glenn Dyer breakdown: A narrow win to Nine overall, but a bigger win to Nine on the main channels. The Celebrity Apprentice, 917,000 for the Boardroom but just 783,000 for The Challenge from 8pm to 9.30pm. It won the slot, but failed to set the world on fire. The Block just over 1.1 million, did a bit better.
Big audiences in Melbourne for The Block (421,000, the biggest in the country last night), and the AFL Footy Show (346,000) saw Nine score a big win in the market which was enough to push it past Seven nationally.
23,000 people watched Rupert Murdoch at the Leveson inquiry in London on News 24 from 7pm to around 10.10pm.
Tonight: AFL on Seven (main channel in the south, and 7mate in the north) and on Pay TV. NRL on Nine (main and Gem channels). Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries on ABC 1. Better Homes and Gardens on Seven main in the north. Young Talent Time on Ten at 7pm.
Saturday: AFL on Seven (main and 7mate) afternoon and night, and it’s on Pay TV as well. The ABC has a fresh New Tricks at 7.30pm and a fresh Whitechapel. In northern markets, Seven’s main channel is full of boring movies. Nine is also full of boring movies, after Australia’s Funniest Home Videos and a repeat of The Voice. Ten has Good News Week – The Final Farewell Tour at 6.30pm (meaning it’s dead).
Sunday: Morning chats. AFL on Seven (main and 7mate) and Pay TV. NRL on Nine (main and Gem channels) and Pay TV. In the evening, there’s no The Voice with Nine running The Block, 60 Minutes and then The Mentalist. That’s not a line up to strike fear into the hearts at Seven or Ten. Seven has Dancing With The Stars, fresh Bones and Castle and will reckon it has a chance of winning. Ten has The Biggest Loser, Modern Family, New Girl and Touch: all fresh episodes. Nine should have run The Voice tonight and generated a big start to the week. ABC 1 has the final Waking the Dead at 8.30pm.
