The Glenn Dyer breakdown: No The Voice, The Block and Celebrity Apprentice meant Nine was nowhere near strong enough to win the night. Revenge and Australia’s Got Talent did the job for Seven.

Randling on ABC 1 with Andrew Denton averaged 859,000 last night, which will probably be its series high. It averaged 1.195 million nationally. Laid at 9pm returned and got what it deserved, 424,000 people for a repeat of a story line viewers went right off at the end of the first series. Laid averaged 599,000 nationally.

With Seven News, Revenge and Australia’s Got Talent doing well in regional areas, Prime/7Qld has now managed to pull past WIN/NBN (Nine) in the week’s battle. But WIN/NBN will win because the NRL is much more popular in regional NSW and Queensland than the AFL.

Ten was again very weak, much weaker than it should have been, despite telling us that its early evening audience had improved.

Tonight: The AFL and NRL Footy Shows on Nine after The Block and Celebrity Apprentice. Ten has The Biggest Loser and Glee. Seven’s highlight is Grey’s Anatomy. Lot’s of Heston Blumenthal cooking on SBS with How To Cook Like Heston and Heston’s Feasts. The ABC has a solid-looking newcomer at 8.30pm on 1 called Silks. If you liked North Square a few years ago, this one is for you.
