The Glenn Dyer breakdown: Nine won, but The Voice has now fallen under 2 million viewers in the five metro markets and it’s obvious that it is unable to hold on to its strong first figures of the first three weeks. Including regional viewers, The Voice averaged 2.659 million viewers last night, down 360,000 from the 3.027 million from a week ago.
Nine won Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, but Seven won Adelaide and Perth, but that was due to the strength of its digital channels: Nine still won the main channels battle.
Ten’s MasterChef managed to get just over a million viewers in the metro markets, which was OK on a tougher night up against The Voice. Regional viewers went right off MasterChef last night and it failed to make the top 10. In fact Ten was beaten into third place in regional areas by ABC 1. Ten was especially weak in Sydney where it was beaten by the ABC overall and in the main channels.
How refreshing to have a Q&A without a politician and political questions dominating discussion. Last night’s effort stood out, a good mix of guests, even with the presence of The Australian‘s Greg Sheridan. Torture, Craig Thomson, marriage, love, Russia and Vladimir Putin. Excellent.
Tonight: Once Upon a Time and then Packed to the Rafters on Seven. MasterChef on Ten, and then the second part of Bikie Wars: Brothers in Arms. Nine has The Block. SBS has Insight and Dateline. Foreign Correspondent is on ABC 1.
