The Glenn Dyer breakdown: The Voice did well and Nine did well — in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane that is. In Adelaide and Perth it did well, but wasn’t the most watched program on the night. The Block was also weak in those two markets, as a consequence, Nine lost the night and Seven will win the week in both markets. Nine had a narrow win in regional markets.

The Voice had 1.901 million in the five metro markets and 2.6 million nationally and has settled around this level with two weeks to go (and three shows, two in the final week). The Block averaged 1.348 million and over 1.8 million nationally, which was solid. Seven’s Revenge averaged 1.335 million in the five metro markets and more than 1.8 million nationally.

Nine’s Tricky Business (after The Voice, which ended around 9.32 or so), averaged 769,000 and just over a million nationally.

MasterChef averaged 1.037 million in the metro markets and 1.399 million nationally. Nowhere near its average from 2011 and not enough to save Ten was being comprehensively done over by the poor, broke ABC and ABC 1.

Tonight: Foreign Correspondent on ABC 1 at 8pm. Packed to the Rafters on Seven at 8.30pm (a lot of hype about a “kiss’, don’t tell me infidelity is raising its ratings-boosting head on Rafters, what is the world coming to?). Nine has The Block, Ten has MasterChef. SBS has Insight and Dateline. Nine has the Diamond Jubilee Concert from 8pm. One to avoid. The Rugby Union Test, Australia v Scotland, from Newcastle is on at 11.15pm.
