The Glenn Dyer breakdown: A tight night, with Hamish & Andy’s Gap Year on Nine topping the night with more than 1.4 million metro viewers and nationally with more than 1.9 million.
Seven won overall, thanks to the big audiences for the AFL in Adelaide and Perth, but Nine won the main channels. Interestingly, the AFL game between West Coast and Carlton couldn’t push Seven to a win in the main channels in Melbourne last night. Nine still got home thanks to 503,000 people watching their heroes, Hamish and Andy. and the 471,000 who watched The Block in Melbourne. They were the biggest audiences for any program across the country last night.
The AFL averaged 673,000 on Seven’s main channel in metro markets, with 371,000 watching in Melbourne. A further 53,000 watched the game on 7mate in metro markets. Nationally, the game had 804,000 viewers on the main channel and 78,000 on 7mate, so not much support from regional areas. A further 218,000 watched the game on Pay TV.
Silk on ABC 1 at 8.30pm averaged 557,000 and 779,000 nationally. Photo Finish averaged 492,000 on ABC 1 at 8pm and 706,000 nationally. Needs more exposure and developing.
